Wild bees are in deep, deep trouble. But it’s been hard for scientists to deduce where, exactly, populations are plummeting the deepest. In order to target spots for rebuilding bee populations, a Marin scientist has started the Great Sunflower Project. Citizen scientists sign up to plant “lemon queen” sunflowers and every two weeks count the number of visiting bees.
