Sonoma aims for 100 percent recycling

Sonoma County has passed a plan to recycle 100 percent of its waste in 50 years. The effort to decrease landfill use will be achieved by emphasizing the recycling and reuse of construction and demolition debris, which accounts for more than a quarter of the county’s waste stream. The county plans to build a new composting center and facility to divert recyclables from its waste stream. Currently about two-thirds of the county’s curbside waste is recycled.
