Northern California’s largest utility submitted plans outlining a 20-year roll out of smart grid technologies. The $2 billion plan is supposed to help PG&E better manage the electrical system to avoid blackouts and use more renewable energy. It also builds on the installation of smart meters, the wireless replacement to analog meters that has sparked fierce resistance.
