How much are bees worth? In an agriculture-focused state like California their economic value is up to $2.4 billion a year. That’s according to a UC Berkeley study published this week. About a third of California crops are dependent on pollinators. It was widely assumed that rented European honeybees were the ones to do it. But the study found that more than a third of all pollination “services” were handled by wild bees.
