Is ocean desalination a good idea for California?

By Alison Hawkes

Is ocean-water desalination a good way to solve California’s impending water crisis? Conservationists are pushing back on the idea, saying that technology is harmful to the environment because it can entrap wildlife and create byproducts heavily concentrated with salt and chemicals that would be dumped back into the ocean. Desalination also uses a lot of power. They favor conserving water at the tap. There are now nearly a dozen plans for desal plants in California, including in Marin.  [DC Bureau]

Desalination has its inherent problems and dealing with the retentate salts is one of them. Energy consumption has been a problem until now…..

My Company has developed the worlds first Reverse Osmosis technology that incorporates extraordinary and ground breaking mechanisms, including, maintenance reduction systems, operation enhancement design, substantial foot print reduction and most importantly, energy recovery systems. We will transform global RO applications.

The salt by products will have to be dealt with in creative ways as we fee; that simply dumping back into the ocean is not a reasonable option. Feel free to contact me if you would like to discuss our leading edge RO technology at ….

Information you might need on desalination

$500 per acre foot for drinking water from seawater can be accomplished with Water Desalination International, Inc. Passarell VES desalination process, now at hand and with the circumstances as they are today. Its’ patented distillation process, engineered and design to produces drinking water and leaves a marketable crystalline salts eliminating harmful brine being returned to the sea. A distillation process consuming very little thermal energy preferably natural gas for its operations, constructed with materials and coatings for long life and low maintenance.
Installed with the smallest footprint. Thank you,
